Stewardship Happenings – Annual Stewardship Campaign

The Stewardship Committee is gearing up for this year’s campaign and Stewardship Sunday will be October 27th. We hope to have the annual letter to include pledge cards in the mail by October 16th.

This special mission offering is a part of the UCCs 5 for 5 campaign. It supports ministries of justice and compassion throughout the United States, including the Council for American Indian Ministries (CAIM), justice and advocacy, and direct service projects supported by Justice and Local Church Ministries. This offering will be held on Sunday October 6th as part of World Communion Sunday.

Youth Groups Off to a Great Start

All four of our youth groups, Joyful Noise for ages 3-5, the SCENE for grades 1-5, RBA for grades 6-8, and the InCasts for grades 9-12 got off to a great start this month.

RBA will enjoy their first adventure on Saturday, October 5 when we take a day canoe trip down the Connecticut River. For more information any of our youth groups, please contact Barbara Daley or Rusty Wightman.

Family Promise Week in September

During our week with Family Promise we were happy to welcome back Samantha and her two 8 year old daughters and meet a new family consisting of Zina, John and Jack. It is amazing to see how the families adapt to changing their living conditions every week. They were all delightful.

Equally amazing are the people in our community who come forward to support this important ministry. Thanks to all who cooked meals, visited with, slept overnight and did the set up and take down, including the laundry at the end of the week. Last but not least, thanks to our transporter who moves their belongings to the next church.

Although we are the farthest church for the families to get to, they appreciate the home atmosphere that we offer, including a private room, showers and an open kitchen. Our next week is in November. We try not to take winter weeks because of the distance to travel.

Thank you! Barbara and Fran

Family Movie Night – The Book of Life

Our next family movie nights is Saturday, October 19th. We will be showing The Book of Life, about a bullfighter who, on the Day of the Dead, embarks on an afterlife adventure to fulfill the expectations of his family and friends. Admission is free and complimentary popcorn and a drink will be served. The doors open at 6:30PM and the movie begins at 7PM. Hope to see you all there!
