Our Mission: Smith Memorial Congregational Church, United Church of Christ, strives to be a church that breaks down walls and is open to all. Through spiritual nurture, we seek to create a visible, active sign of God’s presence in our community and beyond.
Our church is deeply committed to making a difference in our local community and beyond. Here are some outreach endeavors that we are presently involved with:
- Family Promise program, providing housing and meals to several homeless families for a week, four times a year
- Exercise Class for Seniors
- Meditation Group
- Pj’s & Pizza, a monthly Christian Education event for children ages 3-7
- Family Movie Night
- UCC Partnership with UCC Churches in Zimbabwe
- End 68 Hours of Hunger for SAU 34
- School Backpack Project outfitting children returning to school with school supplies
- Prayer Shawl
- The Open Door Coffee House
- Hillsboro House worship service for nursing home residents
- Three active, ecumenical youth groups
- Joyful Noise, an ecumenical music group for pre-schoolers
- Smith Memorial Handbell Choir
- Adult Choir
- Hillsborough District Area Food Pantry
- Yearly Youth Group Mission Projects
Community Life
Smith Memorial Congregational Church, UCC, is a very busy place! In addition to all of our outreach endeavors, our facilities are used by many in our community. Our spaces are shared with:
