Hospice Lights Of Life Celebration

Hospice Lights of Life Celebration

Once again this year, one of the annual celebrations of Lights of Life will be held in the sanctuary of Smith Church on Monday, December 3rd, at 3:00. This is a short, but meaningful ceremony led by Hospice remembering and honoring those we have loved and who have passed away. Please consider attending this year.

Also, do you have a friend or family member you would like honored and inscribed on the Hospice Lights of Life Honor Roll? Those honored do not need to have been a part of the Hospice Program. They only need to have held a special place in your heart. If you have names you would like added to the list, please call Fran Charron at 464-3630 or email her at fcharron@tds.net by November 15th when the list will be sent in.

The Honor Roll will be printed in the Concord Monitor on December 20th

Cookie Walk

Cookie Walk
December 1, 2018

It hardly seems possible that it is time to think about the Cookie Walk, but it is. Once again Smith Church will be part of the town’s Old Fashioned Christmas on Saturday, December 1st, with their Cookie Walk.

People look forward to this every year and many say it starts their holiday season, but it takes a lot of people to make it happen. There are many places where you can help.

Wednesday, November 28, is ‘Bake Off’ day with people in the kitchen rolling and cutting out dough and people in the vestry decorating the cookies…9:00 am till 2:00ish or as much time as you can give.
Friday, November 30, is set up day, receiving and plating cookies.
Saturday, December 1, helping the people select their favorite cookies.

If you are not able to help any of these days, dough is also needed…sugar, gingerbread, and chocolate. Recipes will be on the buffet in the vestry and it can be made ahead of time, frozen and thawed the day before.

A sign-up sheet will also be on the buffet in the vestry. Please look at it and see if there is a place you would like to help.

Also, for sale will be a selection of Serrv items and gently used Christmas items and decorations. Are there Christmas decorations you no longer use? There will be a box in the kindergarten room where they can be left.

Also, being raffled off is a Christmas tree skirt which will benefit the Family Promise program.

If you have questions about any of these things, call Judy Hatfield at 464-3458.

Thanks to everyone for helping to make the Cookie Walk happen.

Harvest Supper 2018

It takes a village”, and that is what it was like on Wednesday, October 17, at the Harvest Dinner. Church members came together and made the dinner a success. After the event having a year off, all who attended were very happy to have the dinner back.

Much thanks goes to all who donated delicious homemade pies, rolls, canned goods and all things needed to serve, to RBA and InCasts Youth Groups, their devoted leaders, and our wonderful and helpful church community.

Looking forward to an even bigger year in 2019.

Choir

Be filled with the Spirit, addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, always giving thanks to God. Ephesians 5:18-20

If you enjoy singing, or you’ve been thinking about joining the choir, come join us as we give thanks to God with our music.

Our first Sunday will be September 9th beginning with rehearsal at 9:00, followed by our worship service at 10:30. To prepare for our first Sunday, we will be having an extra choir rehearsal on Saturday, September 8th at 9:30 in the Sanctuary.

As Johann Sebastian Bach once said, “I play the notes as they are written, but it is God who makes the music.” Come let God make music through YOU!

A Look Ahead for Youth Groups

A lot of things still to be decided with the youth groups for the fall, but what we do know is that the SCENE will be moving to Thursday afternoons under the leadership of Jean Crowley and Barbara Daley. Joyful Noise will be moving to Wednesday mornings at 10 AM to stay out of the way of the WIC program. And RBA and the InCasts will be returning to our traditional Tuesday evenings.

Many thanks to Keith Audette and Fran Charron for stepping up to help with the youth groups this past year, and to Jean Crowley for being willing to work with the SCENE this coming year. We will keep you posted with details of the youth groups as we know them – and as always, thank you for your support of this ministry!
